Transforming Portrait Photography: A Narrative Portrait Behind the Scenes Video

I’m thrilled to unveil my new video, taking you on a short journey through the captivating world of Narrative Portrait Design.

Watch as we peel back the curtain and reveal a sneak peek at the artistic process behind crafting personalized, visually striking artworks.

One of the distinguishing features of narrative portraits is their remarkable adaptability when it comes to location. The selection of a location is a crucial and deeply personal element of both the process and the photoshoot itself. It must hold profound significance for the subject, whether due to sentimental connections or because it symbolizes something deeper in their life.

During my visit to Canada this summer, I had the privilege of photographing Jill Timuska, a remarkable family friend. Jill is an industrial welder and has a brilliant creative mind. She is a dedicated advocate for women in trades and a true trailblazer in her industry. To document this process, I enlisted the expertise of Videographer Josh Pick from Stirstick Inc., who meticulously captured the journey of designing Jill's portrait, from inception to completion.

Co-creating this narrative portrait with Zoe was amazing. She was fun to work with and brought great ideas to the table. It was challenging but fun to add all of the elements to show who I am in one photo. It really made me reflect on my life, who I was, who I am now, and how I got to where I am today. It was an emotional and rewarding experience! - Jill Timushka

Working with Jill was an absolute joy. She quickly grasped the essence of the process, delving into various facets of her life to provide both concrete and symbolic elements. Keep an eye out for an upcoming blog post that will offer insights into Jill's unique perspective on this exhilarating adventure. I'm eager to share her experience, but in the meantime, here's a glimpse into the captivating world of crafting a Narrative Portrait.
