MV Skansonia Wedding - Laural and Josh

Unconventional couples steal my heart every time! When I receive an inquiry for an offbeat wedding, my curiosity spikes. I'm eager to uncover their unique plans.

From the get-go go Laural and Josh told me that they were doing their day their way. In fact, they didn’t even want the focus to be on them as the bride and groom. The ceremony was going to be kept just closest friends and family with a larger party featuring a trivia night afterward.

When I arrived at the MV Skansonia, Seattle’s last wooden ferry boat, I spotted Laural putting the finishing touches on the dining tables. She looked beautiful, fresh, and unphased by the dramatic weather Seattle had served up that morning. It was still drizzling but just an hour before we were having a torrential rain storm and thunder so intense that it knocked out power at the bride and groom's house.

But just before the ceremony, the sun emerged, casting a radiant glow over Lake Union as Laural and Josh exchanged vows. Their journey to the altar echoed their individuality, showcased in their engagement photos taken at a dive bar. Their story exemplifies the beauty of embracing uniqueness, and I was thrilled to be part of it.

I would wager superstition doesn’t rank high on Luaral and Josh’s list of concerns, but I still believe the torrential rain and thunderstorm that marked the beginning of their wedding day will bring a lasting happy marriage to these two gorgeous creative humans.
