Capturing Personality: How I Create a Portrait that Tells Your Story

I think of every portrait process as a co-creation. This is something we are going to do together. I’ll be the visual narrator of your story.

When you come to me to co-create your custom fine art portraits, there are three key things we will do.

  1. Spend some time together.
This isn’t meant to be a fast process. We live in a world that increasingly pushes quickness, efficiency, and immediacy and the cost of this is real human connection. Our journey together will be a deliberate and thoughtful process. We will meet at least once to get to know each other and plan your portrait. We will put down our phones and chat over coffee or tea and it will be lovely. This moment is yours, and it deserves to be savored.

  2. Explore two key questions. I am going to ask you two questions when we meet. What are the three items that are most meaningful to you, and why? And, what are the three words that capture the essence of what you want your portrait to convey? Your answers will guide our journey, leading us toward the perfect location, wardrobe, and mood for your photo shoot.

  3. Visualize. After we meet I will create a mood board as a visual representation of your portrait session. This allows you to visualize the elements and progression of your photoshoot, building excitement and easing nerves. It serves as a guide for our day and also helps the makeup artist understand the look we are going for.

This story is about you, I’m here to capture it, and you are here to tell it.
